Our story

Kellson Guitars started with two friends, a shared obsession with guitars, and a simple idea. If we could build instruments we were proud of, why not build them for other people too?

Frustrated with the costs of high-end guitars, we want to offer quality instruments for a reasonable price that really do sound like you expect and can last a guitarist throughout their entire career.

We’re Sam Kelleher and Tom Matheson, based in rural Suffolk. Tom has been building guitars since his early teens, constantly experimenting, refining, and learning the craft. After finishing our A-levels in summer 2025, we decided to turn that passion into something real.

We didn’t have a workshop. So we built one.

Using reclaimed wood, old pallets, donated doors, and anything we could get our hands on, we created a space where we could work properly, learn faster, and start building guitars from the ground up. That space still sits at the heart of everything we do.

Every Kellson guitar is assembled, wired, and set up by us in Suffolk. We source high-quality parts from trusted suppliers and focus on what matters most: how the guitar feels, sounds, and plays.

We’re still early in our journey, and that’s part of the point. We care about getting better with every build, working closely with people who love guitars as much as we do, and creating instruments that don’t feel like they’ve come off a production line.

Every guitar we produce is put through many checks and procedures that even the big brands fail to do in an effort to cut costs. " But buying a boutique guitar has to be expensive." No, it doesn't! Every guitar we produce is carefully assembled and checked for any damage. Fret sprout, unlevel frets, or dodgy electronics will never be an issue for our products, and we are so sure of this that we are proud to have an excellent returns policy.

Kellson is simply our two names combined, but it represents something bigger. Building something of our own, doing it properly, and seeing where it can go.”
